i almost missed working on any christmas in july stitching...
till Melissa reminded me that the next hand embroidered quilt we worked on would be 'Twas the Night Before Christmas by Crab-Apple Hill
(we had agreed, again, that Melissa will do the tracing and piecing and i will do the tracing (boo) and stitching, pressing and trimming)
i have renamed it Santa's Tree cuz this panel
is gonna be the center instead of pieced pinwheels ... it will hafta be cut down considerably
and, of course, the floss will not be red...
green for everything except the berries and Rudolph's nose ... the background fabric and the (first two) skeins of floss are from stash ... the floss colors are, in Real Life, more grey than pictured and the fabric is, in Real Life, less grey - sigh
the borders are all traced (it's my least favorite part and Melissa wimped out before she even started, so i traced and traced and traced for four days to prove a point ... i think she was secretly snickering the entire time) and i've stitched half a skein's worth of green...
anywho...
for the next few days weeks months however long it takes, i will be stabby stabby stabbying the four borders, and pressing and trimming - then this will join the last embroidered (Vintage Tin) blocks in the Great Pile of Stuff...
and they may become quilts someday
I know it's not what you want to hear....but I really like the pieced pinwheels! lol
ReplyDeleteI must admit to always having a lot of curiosity about CrabApple Hill's offerings but for some unknown reason my computer throws an absolutely scary hissy fit the instant I try to enter their web site. If it could scream 'danger, danger, run for your life' I'm sure it would! I hear they've ceased operations so I guess now it's a moot point.
