when Melissa finished her Confetti quilt, she had a gazillion little snowball blocks leftover
she put them in the giveaway bag
i rescued them and put them in the orphan blocks bin
and they lived there till she found them again and put them back in the giveaway bag
i rescued them again and hid them in an unmarked bin in the Great Pile of Stuff
and they lived there till she found them again
but by then i had a plan for them
they reminded me of my favorite rainbow-sprinkled donuts - all they needed was donut rings
so out came donut-brown fabric bits from the stash to make them into snowball-in-a-snowball blocks
white background fabric from the stash for sashing and i had a gazillion blocks that looked like..
...everything bagels
yeah ... a gazillion rainbow-sprinkled everything bagels
not the look i was going for
so
i searched for donut fabric
and found a border fabric
and the perfect center for my donuts
and
TA-DA!!!
whilst ordering the donut center
quilted by quilting longarmer extraordinaire, Liz Bowman
kept popping up on the screen ... and then he jumped into the cart
after we saw The Meg
which is one of the funniest movies ever
the official theme of all my half-birthdays has been sharks
the beach scene from the movie looks just like my favorite rainbow-sprinkled donuts except the sprinkles are people and the donut is the beach
so
using my twisted sense of humor
my gigoondah shark made the perfect backing for the donuts living on the front and now i have an official half birthday quilt
Won't you be my chum?
